There are mountains you look at. And then there are mountains you feel. Mount Pelmo and Antelao, the two giants of the Belluno Dolomites, are like that: they don't just offer spectacular landscapes, they penetrate you, speaking to you of silence, strength, and pure beauty.
They are stone cathedrals that dominate valleys and trails, guardians of ancient stories and unforgettable emotions. The Dolomites aren't conquered. They are loved. And these two giants will steal your heart.
MOUNT PELMO: THE "CAREGA DEL PADRETERNO"
Majestic, isolated, unmistakable: Mount Pelmo (3,168 m) stands like a throne in the sky. Locals call it the Carega del Padreterno, the chair of God, for its regal and solemn shape. Climbing to the Rifugio Venezia, at the foot of the south face, is an experience that remains in the heart. From there, unparalleled views open up of the Civetta, the Bosconero mountain range, and Antelao itself. More experienced climbers can tackle the Pelmo tour, a spectacular loop that embraces the mountain, passing through pastures, rocks, and thrilling passages such as the Rutorto Pass and the famous equipped section of the Cenge. But there is something even more ancient: the dinosaur footprints, imprinted in the rock at over 2,000 meters above sea level. A place suspended in time, where you literally walk on the Earth's past.
